Richard L. Bell
Richard "Dick" L. Bell, Sr., 74, was born on October 31, 1938 in Ann Arbor, Michingan. He passed away on January 21, 2013 at Tidewell Hospice in Palmetto, Florida after a short battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his wife Ann Chase Bell of Palmetto, his brother Thomas Bell of Palmetto, daughter Barbara Ann Orr and her husband Victor of Nolanville, Texas, daughter Kim Sue Bell of Sanford, niece Audrey Zink of Palmetto, 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Claude & Eleanor Bell, brothers Harry & Gerald Bell, daughter Annette "Toni" Price, and son Richard L Bell Jr.After graduating from Dexter High School in Michigan he proudly served for 26 years in the US Army as a tank commander, including tours Vietnam & Korea. He also received two Bronze Star Medals for his serviceAfter retiring from the Army he worked as a machinist in Maine & New Hampshire. When he finally retired, he enjoyed living full-time in his RV, watching NASCAR, cooking & fishing.Burial with military honors will be conducted on Friday, June 21 at 2:00 PM at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 83 Stanley Road, Springvale.Donations in his memory can be made to Tidewell Hospice at tidewell.org.
