Richard P. Beaudoin

Standish - Richard P. Beaudoin, 78, formerly of Portland, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021. Born in Willimantic, Connecticut, on November 13, 1942, Dick was the son of the late Ernest and Agnes (Wright) Beaudoin. At the age of 18, Dick was looking to make a move so he closed his eyes and pointed to a map in the Greyhound station in Hartford, Connecticut. The place on the map: Bangor, Maine. So he jumped aboard the bus, made it to Portland, and decided that he'd come far enough. Dick's hard work ethic started at a young age. As soon as he landed in Portland, Dick decided to start working in construction. Later throughout his working life, he would be part owner of M.R. Brewer. After his work in construction, he began his employment with the South Portland School Department, a job he enjoyed for 16 years before retiring. Dick enjoyed the simple things in life: watching the boats coming and going on Sebago, a good cup of coffee with his friend Bonnie, watching the Dolphins or Jeopardy, or collecting sports memorabilia. He also really enjoyed Corvette's, especially his 1977 T-Top and his 1986. There were many things that made Dick who he was; but what he will always be remembered for is being compassionate, caring and honorable. His love for life was demonstrated through the smile that so many people grew to love. He was a loving man who will be deeply missed. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Mildred Neptune. Dick is survived by his son, Jeffery Beaudoin of Portland; daughters, Gloria Beaudoin of Connecticut and Stephanie Neptune and husband David of Standish. He was the brother of Faith Broussea of New Hampshire and the beloved grandfather of Steven and wife Amy, Ashton, Brittini, Eudeja, Zimaya, Zachary and Keegan. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Lucas, Jayden, Logan, Zoe, Norah, and 1 great-grandchild due in March. He was also the beloved uncle of Terissa Carrera and husband Christopher and William Broussea. A graveside service celebrating his life will be held in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home of South Portland. To view Mr. Beaudoin's complete obituary, please visit www.ConroyTullyWalker.com.

  3. Dicky was a jack of all trades and a master of many! He was rightfully proud of his woodworking and enjoyed sharing his art and craft with the students of South Portland Schools. He was a gentle and kind man who spoke plainly and honestly who was interested in the world around him. We were pals for many many years, having a coffee and a laugh Friday mornings reminiscing about the “good ol’ days” for almost two decades. I am lucky to count Dickie as one of my best friends. He will be sorely missed. Bonnie Hicks
