Rhodena M. Edmonds
Rhodena M. Edmonds, 70, of Acton died on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.Rhodena was born in Brighton, MA on August 7, 1939 to Raymond and Margaret MacDonald and attended local schools. She moved to Maine in 1965 settling in Acton where she raised four daughters. Rhodena was very good at lampshade crafting and making other types of crafts. She owned and operated the Country Corner Shop in Acton for many years. She enjoyed traveling to visit lighthouses, camping locally and sitting on the beach. She was devoted to her family and liked having family barbecues and gatherings. She was a past president of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. Rhodena was a very strong willed and determined woman. Her strong will enabled her to live long enough to hold her first great grandson, Jacob Jeremiah Twomey. She was a woman of quick wit and had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her friends and family.Rhodena was predeceased by her first husband, John Bevard and by her second husband David Edmonds. Surviving are her companion, Mike Davis of Acton; four daughters, Peggy Twomey of Acton, Debbie Dixon of Old Orchard Beach, Becky French of Rochester and Rhonda Bevard of Sanford; 13 grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Nicholas, Matt, Samantha, Jessica, Kelsea, Logyn, John, Dalton, Madison, Patrick and Cheyenne; a great-grandson, Jacob Jeremiah Twomey and an unborn great-granddaughter.At Rhodena's request there will be no services.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, ME 04074.To leave a message of condolence for the family please visit www.blackfuneralhomes.com.
