SANFORD Rene L. Letourneau 54 died suddenly Thursday in Sanford. He was born in Sanford Sept. 30, 1952 a son of Noel & Aline (Bernier) Letourneau. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Sanford High and also S.M.V.T.I. of South Portland. Rene was employed as a shipfitter at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a classic car enthusiast (big blocks). His wife said he lived life to the fullest. He was everyone's friend. He was a member of Retreads and an avid motorcyclist.Rene was a member of several social clubs. His smile, good nature and sense of humor will be greatly missed.His greatest pleasures was gatherings with family and friends.He was predeceased by his Mother and a Brother Gerard. Survivors include his father and stepmother Hope of Sanford, his wife Ruth M. Bettinger of Sanford, two daughters, Janna Letourneau of Boston, Julie Coughlin and her husband Dwain of Gardiner, a brother Paul of Lincoln, and sisters Pauline Letourneau of Sanford and Nancy Moses and her husband Brian of Shapleigh. Two grandchildren, Zachary & Mackenzie along with nephew Justin Moses and niece Noella Cameron.Visiting hours will be Sunday 6-8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford.A funeral service will conducted at 10:00 AM Monday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas School 69 North Ave., Sanford, ME 04073 or the American Cancer Society, 1 Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.To leave the family a message of condolence please use the "condolences" tab to the left.
