Rene Joseph LeBlanc, 98, of Springvale, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Lodges in Springvale. Born on June 6, 1916 to Alfred and Laura (Boivin) LeBlanc, he grew up and attended local schools in Sanford. He proudly served aboard the USS Lexington in the Pacific during World War II as part of the U.S. Navy. In 1946 he married Adrienne Tetreau, and together they shared nearly 69 years of marriage and raised two children in his childhood home. For many years Rene worked as a union carpenter; his friends knew him as a hard-working man who took pride in providing for his family. Rene enjoyed going fishing, bowling, and playing cards. He was a devout Catholic and had been a long-time communicant of Holy Family/St. Therse of Lisieux Parish. Many were the moments that he would fondly reminisce to his grandchildren on the days when he helped build the church. Rene will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Rene was predeceased by his son, Michael LeBlanc, his sisters, Theresa Richards, Gabrielle Legere, Irene Fortier, and his brothers, Leo and Ferdinand. Surviving are his wife, Adrienne (Tetreau) LeBlanc of Springvale; his daughter, Aurelie Pfohl and her husband Skip of Syracuse, New York; his daughter-in-law, Helen (Baron) LeBlanc of Sanford; six grandchildren, Bailey and Shane Pfohl of Syracuse, New York, Nicole Turner and her husband Peter of Noblesville, Indiana, Danielle Self of Allen, Texas, Jason LeBlanc of Arlington, VA and Kristen Loflin and her husband Nick of Greensboro, North Carolina; five great-grandchildren, Josie and Trent Turner, Tatum Self and John and Abby Loflin; two brothers, Raymond LeBlanc and his wife Gloria of Greenwich, Connecticut and Roger LeBlanc and his wife Carol of Cadillac, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 16th at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 17th at St Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the Activity Fund at The Lodges, 51 Main Street, P.O. Box 355, Springvale, ME 04073. Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
