Rene Fortier
Rene R. Fortier, 78, a lifelong resident of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at the H.D. Goodall Hospital. He was born in Sanford on February 21, 1931, a son of Alex and Rosa (Rouleau) Fortier.He attended local schools and then served in the US Army during the Korean War. On September 5, 1959 he married the former Dale R. Hill in Saco. He was a communicant of St. Ignatius Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rev. John J. McGinnis Council #2231 in Sanford. For over 40 years he worked as a mason retiring in 1991.He is predeceased by his wife, Dale R. Fortier who passed away in 1997.He is survived by his children, Gary Fortier, James Fortier and Renee Boutot, of Sanford, three brothers, Patrick Fortier, Philip Fortier and Robert Fortier of Sanford, two sisters, Doris Dion of Sanford and Sr. Theresa Fortier of California as well as five grandchildren.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 20th at 11AM at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. I miss you every day pepere. You truly were the greatest man I’ve ever met and I was so lucky to grow up with you in my life. I wish so badly you were still here with us, but I am glad that you’re at peace and that you’re now with the love of your life again.
