Reginald I. Hale
Reginald I. "Reggie" Hale, 79, of Kennebunk and formerly of Sanford passed away at his home in Kennebunk, Maine on Friday, October 12, 2007. Born on August 20, 1928 in Sanford, Reggie was the son of Floyd W. and Mildred L. (Emmons) Hale. Reggie attended Sanford High School and earned letters in football and baseball.In January of 1946 he went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. He was an Armed Bomb Instructor for three years and made his way up to Sergeant. Reggie loved and served his country with great pride and honor. Upon his return from the service he worked as a foreman at the Sutton Mills. He also worked at the Curtis Lake Ice House and then went on to drive tractor-trailers for Paul Adams and Auclair Trucking.Reggie was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He loved all that life had to offer. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going on long rides into the country. He also loved his time spent in Howland, Maine, looking for turkey, moose and deer. His favorite pass times were playing cards, dancing, reading Uncle Henry's and chumming around with his friends where he always managed to get a rise out of someone. He was a former member of the Preble Masonic Lodge in Sanford, the Shriners and the Sanford Elk's Lodge. He was a current member of the Sanford Country Club Fish & Game and the Thomas W. Cole American Legion Post #19 in Sanford.Reggie is predeceased by his wife, Rep. Mona Walker Hale and one son, Jesse J. Hale.He is survived by one daughter, Tambre Lee Daney of Springvale, two granddaughters, Tracie L. Daney and her fiance Mark R. Stevens of Acton, Jennifer Escoto and her husband Al of Springvale, three great grandchildren, Devin R. Brennan, Henry A. Escoto and Alexandria M. Escoto, one aunt, Glendine Woodsome, one nephew, Glen Hale, his companion of 12 years, Mona Ruth Fleming and her family, John and Tina Fleming, Mariner and Joyce Fleming, Bruce and Ruth Cheney, Alva and Meg Fleming and other family members.Visiting hours for Reggie will be held on Tuesday October 16th from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Carll- Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale, where a funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 10am.
