  1. I have been friends with Raye for a few years now since she had become my neighbor. She was quite misunderstood by many that knew her including family. My first time having a full conversation with her was the day we all had to evacuate our building because of smoke filling my apartment and the fire department had to search for the fire. I had my kitties in my car, my son was at school and I was an emotional wreck thinking we were going to lose everything including our home. Raye sat and talked with me and reassured me that no matter what we were all safe and healthy and it was going to be okay. When she fell and fractured her hip a couple years ago she gave me a key to her place so that if she needed help I could get in if she couldn’t make it to the door. She always cared about others even if they didn’t realize and worried so much for those in need even at times when she would put herself out to help them. When we went more than a year of the roof leaking and even professionals couldn’t find the problem and it poured in our kitchen on thanksgiving she offered me to cook in her kitchen. When I didn’t have a Christmas tree she offered me one of her small ones fully decorated. We spent so much time just talking and listening to music in her kitchen, he favorite was Cher but she had a wide range that she loved to listen to. I will miss those times. She has been called and reunited with her husband who she missed every day, may she rest in peace.
