                                    October 11, 1946 ~ May 1, 2016
Standish- Raymond J. Guimond Jr., 69, of Milt Brown Road died at home surrounded by his loving family and caring friends, following a long illness. Ray of Sunshine, as he often referred to himself, was born in Portland, Maine on the 10th month, 11th day of 46, the son of the late Raymond J. Sr. and Bertha R. Noonan Guimond. Ray worked as a self-employed welder most of his life. His sons commented that he could fix or build anything; if it was broken everyone called Ray. His family also commented that he was an outstanding brother, father, grandfather and friend. He loved being in the outdoors, teaching his sons to hunt and fish. He always put others needs ahead of his own and worked very hard to instill a strong work ethic and a kind heart in his three sons. His pride and joy was his granddaughter Madeline who was the apple of Bamps eye. He was also a long time member of the Shakers motorcycle club. Raymond was predeceased by a sister Diane Rae. He is survived by three sons Scott Guimond and his companion Kristine Thomas of Sebago, Eric and Rhonda Guimond of Standish, Daniel Guimond and his companion Jessica Bineau of Biddeford; a granddaughter Madeline Guimond of Biddeford; a sister Jean Fairweather of Biddeford; two nephews John and Josh and a niece Jennifer and familys. At the familys request all services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland, ME. Dad you will be missed by everyone and I will make sure Madeline never forgets you. Your “made you look” trick will live on with her:) You taught me many things in life. You always said I was the one who stayed at home while everyone else went Fishing or Hunting. Or how you said I brought my school books with me camping! We never showed emotions but you need to know I loved you and appreciated everything you did for me. You and mom were my number one fans when I played baseball. I can hear you now saying “Daniel – Throw the Lollipop!” When you brought me to baseball games you always gave me your lucky coin, I wish I still had that coin. It was in my cleats for many baseball games. I will never forget and will always reference you. You always said “everyone knows Who Ray Guimond is!” Love you Daniel

I miss you so much Raymond J, I’m just sitting here waiting for you to come talk to me… From the first time I met you I knew you were a great man, but could never know how much you would have an impact my life.. You are the smartest man I ever met, your heart is made of gold.. I see your face every time I close my eyes and I really don’t know what to do now… I have lost other family members but none have broken my heart and left a hole the way you have. I will never ever forget you… I love you very much always

My heart breaks for all of you. Ray was one of my favorite patients from the past years at Mercy.I am so sorry for your loss and i am also sad. I have loved the stories he told over the years of his wonderful family and how proud he was of the pictures that His grand daughter would bring to him or send for us to hang on the wall of his room. He always remembered me from one stay to the next and i am only sorry that his last stay at Mercy i did not get to see him or sit with him a while. I so wish i had been able to hug him at the end of the shift the last time he was with us and i am terribly sorry that i didn’t get to see him. We would have said “Until next time” as we always did . So Sunshine Ray………Until next time Coach. Keep smiling. Thinking of you, Cindy Lunt CNA

To the Guimond Family – When I first met Ray I was “scared”. He was a man that spoke to the truth 100% of the time whether it was correct or politically incorrect. I was so happy when I got to know Ray. I would look forward to him stopping by my office and us having our talks about “life” and I would ask his opinion on how he would handle situations. He was a very smart man. I realize that his no nonsense approach to life should have been made into a book. So many could learn from him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all!

Scotty and Eric, I used to see your father on the water all the time by himself and spend hours talking with him and not fishing, he was extremely proud of both of you, as he should be. You both have class on and off the water. We all know were you guys got it from, Dad! My sincere condolences to both of you and your family’s. He will be missed. Bouch

I guess we knew it was coming. I’m so glad you all threw a party for him. It was good to see him again. Your dad gave me a lot of laughs (mostly at Frank’s expense). He was so good at everything he did. He built our addition without blueprints or drawings. On top of that he made his own automatic lift to hoist the plywood to the roof. A really great guy. He will really be missed. I’m sorry for your loss.
