Raymond A. Dewire

Raymond A. Dewire, 92, of Sanford, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Newton Center in Sanford. He was born on April 29, 1917, in Springvale, a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Chenard) Dewire. He attended local schools and then served his country in the US Navy during WWII.For 20 years he was employed at United Shoe in Rochester and in 1983 retired from the Portsmouth Navy Yard. He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church, and a member of the American Legion Post # 19. He spent many summers on Loon Pond in Acton enjoying fishing and woodworking. He is predeceased by his first wife, Gertrude (Trottier) Dewire.He is survived by his wife, Imelda (Melanson) Dewire of Sanford, one son, Laurent Dewire of Colorado, three grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.At his request a Graveside service will take place on Saturday, March 20th at 11AM at Notre Dame Cemetery in Springvale.Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
