Raymond A. Desrochers

Raymond A. Desrochers, 80, of Sanford, died on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.Raymond was born in October 10, 1939 to Alberic and Rachel (Lavigne) Desrochers in Sanford where he grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 1958. Following high school he proudly served in the United Stated Air Force. After completing his enlistment he returned to Sanford where he worked for two years as a carpenter before relocating to Las Vegas where he was employed for many years at several casinos. After his wife died in 2005 Raymond moved back home to Sanford.Raymond was a talented craftsman and carpenter and had built the home that he lived in after returning to Maine. He was an outgoing and friendly man and always enjoyed being around people. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted step-father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed. Raymond was predeceased by his parents and by his wife, Eileen Desrochers.Surviving are two step-daughters, Kathy and Tina Schaeffer of Las Vegas; three sisters, Doris Martineau of Sanford, Lucille Lachance of Sanford and Jackie Tapscott of Winter Haven, Florida; several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 25th at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery located on Stanley Road in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the charity of their choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
