Raymond C. Cote

Raymond C. Cote, 82, of Sanford, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday December 7th, 2006 at the Greenwood Center Nursing Home in Sanford. He was born in Sanford, on August 24, 1924, a son of Sylvio and Olympe Cote. He attended Brunswick and Sanford Schools.On April 19, 1958 he married the former Doris Gouin at Holy Family Catholic Church where they both remained lifelong communicants. For several years he worked in the local shoe shops. For over 25 years he owned and operated Cote's Taxi in Sanford. He also worked for the Sanford and Lebanon School Departments. Following retirement he worked as a driver for York County Community Action. He was also a member of the Sanford Elk's Lodge #1470.He is predeceased by one brother, Robert Cote.He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Doris (Gouin) Cote of Sanford, four daughters, Nancy Drouin and her husband, Richard, Susan Lavallee and her husband, Kenneth of Sanford, Cathy Manuel and her husband, Michael of Kennebunk, Betty Kimball and her husband, Scott of Sanford, one sister, Ms. Jeanne Cote of Sanford, 5 grandchildren, Brittany, Samantha, Kelsey, Jessica and Nicholas.Visiting hours will be on Sunday December 10th from 6-8pm at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford, where the members of the Sanford Elk's Lodge are invited to gather for a service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 12noon at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sanford.
