Ralph Trefry
Ralph M. Trefry passed away on November 21, 2014 at Maine Veterans Home in South Paris.He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts to Charles and Frances (Boudreau) Trefry on September 1, 1924. Ralph grew up and attended schools in Lynn. An army veteran of World War II, he served in the tank corps under General Patton in Europe. He was decorated having seen much action, including the Battle of the Bulge, earning a Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart. Upon his return, he married Edna Hutchins and raised four children in Lynn. For most of his working life, Ralph was a heavy equipment operator for Lynn Public Works and retired from there several years ago.In his spare time, Ralph loved to "tinker" and fix things. He was a kind man who was very giving and generous. He was a quiet and gentle person, especially enjoying the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of over 50 years, a son, Ernest Charles Trefry and a brother, Ernest Trefry. Survivors include a son, Ralph Trefry Jr. of Florida, a daughter, Elizabeth Mills of Alfred, a son, Wayne Trefry of New Hampshire, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a sister, Lillian Hally, and a brother Frederick Trefry. Burial with military honors will take place in the spring at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Activies Fund c/o Pat Paar at the Maine Veterans Home at 477 High St., South Paris, ME.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
