Scarborough - Ralph "Bud" Finch Jr., 81, passed away on April 20, 2024. He was born on November 6, 1942, in Portland. Bud was a graduate of Deering High School. Following his graduation, Bud enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country with honor and distinction for five years. This year Bud was honored, when he was asked to go on the honor flight in April, but his health prevented him from attending. In 1963, Bud married the love of his life, Laureen, the daughter of Aubert and Bernice Saucier. Their journey together took them to various places around the world for Bud's enlistment, including Las Vegas, Thailand, and Japan, before they settled back in Maine in 1968. Bud made a promise to Laureen's father to take care of her for the rest of her life, a promise he fulfilled with unwavering devotion. Bud was known for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and gentlemanly demeanor. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word, always polite, charitable, and good-hearted. He had a knack for working with his hands, whether it was fixing cars, indulging in his passion for drag racing, or honing his skills on the golf course. Throughout his life, Bud remained true to his word and was a man of integrity. He was an active member of the Lions Club and proudly held a pilot's license. For 15 years, Bud ran AAMCO Transmissions, where all three of his children worked alongside him, a testament to his dedication to family and hard work. Bud had a love for sports, particularly baseball, which he played during his time in the military. He also enjoyed watching the Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox, cheering on his favorite teams with enthusiasm. Bud was predeceased by his sisters, Martha and Andrea. He is survived by his loving wife, Laureen Finch of Scarborough; and their children, Clifton "Bud" Finch and wife Melissa of Limerick, Daniel Finch and wife Jennifer of Ogunquit, and Nicole Newton and husband Joseph of Norway. Bud will be deeply missed by his seven grandchildren, Corey, Ryan, Justin, Kayla, Trent, Allie, and Daniel; as well as his four great-grandchildren, Payton, Hayleigh, June, and Charlotte. Visiting hours will be held to celebrate Bud’s life on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 10am-12pm at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12pm in the chapel. Burial with military honors will be held at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland. In honor of Bud's service to his country, donations may be made to the Maine Veterans Project at 207 Parkview Ave, Bangor, ME, 04401.
