Phillip S. Parker, 90, died Saturday July 23, 2011 at his daughter's residence. Mr. Parker was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Judith (Crowley) Parker and his four brothers, Charles, Russell, William and Eugene.Mr. Parker was born on August 18, 1920 in Bangor Maine, to Mildred (Batson) and Charles H. Parker. He grew up on his family's farm in Addison, Maine, also attending schools there. Following his service in the Navy during WWII, he attended the University of Maine. Upon graduation he worked as a Research Biologist for the Fish and Wildlife Service across the country, ending his career on the research vessel Delaware, out of Gloucester, MA. After retirement he worked part time as a land surveyor, later moving to Maine to open Hiram's House, a Bed and Breakfast with his wife.Mr. Parker was active in the Rockport Methodist Church, where he was Superintendant of Sunday Schools; he was also active in the Boy Scouts. He loved classical music, gardening, and spending time with his family.Mr. Parker is survived by his five children: Russell C. Parker his wife Zdrafka, Geneva, wife of David Moorhead, Nancy, wife of William J. Garlick with whom he resided, Lorrie, wife of Ronald E. Wightman, and Phillip S. Parker ll.He leaves behind 14 grandchildren: Peter Parker, Leah Beach, and her husband Christian, Katie Moorhead and her fiancee Marc, Jeff Moorhead, Billie Jo Brosnan, Dean Garlick and his fiancee Lynnette, Jennifer DeSimone and her fiancee Evans, Jessica Baker and her husband Matt, Rachael Wightman, Curtis Wightman, and his fiancee Katrina, Colby Wightman and his wife Amber, Emily, Phillip lll and Aidan Parker. He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren: Caedon and Iain Beach, Melissa, Erin and Deirdra Brosnan, Trevor and Autumn Garlick, Jessica, Peter and Cassandra DeSimone, Douglas and Zoe Baker and Carly Wightman. "Like as the waves make their way towards the pebbled shore, so do our minutes hasten to their end; each changing place with that which goes before." Mr. Parker will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Judith, in Alfred, Maine. Services will be private.The family of Mr. Parker wishes to thank all of his nurses for taking such wonderful care of him, especially his daughter, Nancy.
