Philip Raymond Curran, 81, of Portland passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2025. Born on January 26,1944 to Philip and Madeline (Cleary) Curran, Philip was a lifelong resident of beloved Munjoy Hill. He was a devoted parishioner of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, remaining true to his Catholic faith throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Philip married the love of his life Patricia Murray on July 6, 1974. They shared 49 wonderful years together. He was a devoted father to daughters Catherine and Mary, and delighted in the company of his grandchildren. Phil was an avid gardener, spending hours tidying up the lawn while waiting for his tomatoes to ripen. He had a lifelong love of the ocean, enjoying walks along the Eastern Promenade, days at Higgins Beach, and boating around Casco Bay. Left to cherish his memory are daughters Catherine (Benjamin Elias) Curran and Mary (Brendan) Tobin; grandchildren Orla, Maeve and Declan Tobin of Portland; sisters Maureen Conroy and Madelyn Wallace, both of South Portland; many nieces, nephews and other cherished family members. Philip is preceded in death by his wife Patricia, sister-in-law Kathleen (Murray) Ferrante, brothers-in-law Edward Conroy Sr, James Wallace Sr, Charles Ferrante and nephew James Wallace Jr. A special thank you to the staff at the Barron Center’s Day Program for their kindness and care in his later years.
