Pearl Cimino, 97, of Sanford, passed away on Friday August 23, 2013 at the Greenwood Nursing Center following a long illness. She was born in Pearl Oughtibridge in Bradford, Yorkshire, England on April 6, 1916, a daughter of the late Albert And Edna Oughtibridge. Her family came to America in 1921. She is predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Cimino who died in 1965Mrs. Cimino loved to make quilts. She also loved to scan the newspapers for the sick and bereaved, and then send them a sympathy or get well card. She met Mr. Cimino after sending him a sympathy card after he lost his first wife. He decided to come to Sanford and see who this lovely Christian lady was who loved people enough to them a card with a handwritten word of encouragement and condolences. They fell in love and married soon after in 1961.Mrs. Cimino's family tree goes back to the time of William the Conqueror, in 1066 A.D. The name Oughtibridge descends from one of the Anglo-Saxon lords who owned the manor called "Oughtibridge",. which is still there six miles outside of Sheffield, England.Mrs. Cimino was of English and French nobility, a descendant of Most Ancient Family of Oughtibridge, in England.She was a descendant of French nobility through her great grandfather William Oughtibridge of eight generations ago who married Sarah De LaPryme on September, 1696, sister of Rev, Abraham De Lapryme, the diarist. Also, Mrs. Cimino was a desdendant of Sir Thomas Ughltred who name appears among the Knights Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter. Sir Thomas was at the Siege of Calais in 1345-48. Mrs. Cimino was unassuming and a very meek lady who never boasted of her rich heritage. She was a member of the Curtis Lake Christian Church.Mrs. Cimino is predeceased by a son, Malcom Lee MacCormack and first husband, John MacCormack, Sr., of Sanford, sisters Beatrice Wellington of Nevada, Mary Gerrish of Sanford, Doris Girdner of Arizona, and Eliza "Betty" Treadwell of Idaho.She is survived by her sister, Enda Brown of Sanford, sons, Rev. John MacCormack Jr., David L. McCormack, Richard MacCormack, children of her first marriage, twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10AM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Visiting hour will begin at 9AM until the time of the funeral service. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.Condolences may be expressed at the Condolences tab at left.
