Pauline Carrier
Pauline Carrier, 89, of Sanford, died July 14 at The Lodges in Springvale after a lengthy illness.She was born in Manchester, NH on April 1, 1928, the daughter of Albert and Yvonne (Pare) Vachon, came to Sanford at a young age and attended St. Ignatius School.In 1948, she married Roland E. Carrier and together they enjoyed 62 years of marriage while raising their family of five daughters. She was employed over the years in local shoe shops. After retiring, she delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. A devout Catholic, she had been a communicant of St. Ignatius Church where she sang in the choir. She also was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the Daughters of Isabella.She enjoyed playing cards with the girls, knitting, Bingo and was an avid Red Sox fan.Her family recalled that she was a loving mother, grandmother, great gram and especially loved holding new babies.She was predeceased by her husband Roland in 2010, a brother Arthur Vachon and a sister Yolande Payeur.Survivors include her five daughters, Connie Gregoire and her husband Steve of Sanford, Doris Porell and her husband Rickey of Alfred, Elaine Baron and her husband Alan of Sanford, Janet Jepson and her husband Richard of Sanford, Jeanne Carrier and her partner Norman Porell of Alfred, 2 brothers, Paul Vachon and his wife Doris of Merrimack, NH, Robert Vachon and his wife Cheryl of Springvale, six grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Kelley, Tracy, Chad and Chris, six great grandchildren, Zach, Sam, Ethan, Brayden, Isabel and Ryder and several nieces and nephews.An hour of visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon, at the Holy Family Church of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish in Sanford. Interment will be in the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of The Lodges for the exceptional care provided to Pauline and to them over these past months.
