With great sadness we announce the passing of Pauline Avis Doucette on March 28, 2025.
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Pauline was born in North Conway, New Hampshire on August 23, 1942. She was the daughter of Carroll W. McAllister and Edith L. McAllister. Pauline grew up in her family home in Lovell, Maine with her six siblings. It was a place that held great memories for her, and she shared many stories about growing up on a small family farm with her children and grandchildren.

Pauline attended Fryeburg Academy and graduated in 1960. After graduation, Pauline moved to Portland, Maine and enrolled in a Certified Nurse’s Assistant course and worked at Maine General Hospital. While working there, Pauline met and married Howard E. Whalen. They settled in Massachusetts where they started raising their three daughters. Pauline worked for the Sweetheart Cup Company during that time. In 1972, the family moved to Marrietta, Georgia. While living in Georgia, Pauline started a small scale house cleaning business. Pauline attended church at Marietta Baptist Tabernacle. She enjoyed time camping and boating on Lake Lanier with family and friends.

Missing her family in Maine, Pauline moved back to Maine with her three daughters and settled in Springvale. Pauline was employed by Sprague Electric and then by Brooks Woolen in Sanford. Pauline met Robert Doucette at a dance and they later married in 1988. They built a home in Sanbornville, New Hampshire. They enjoyed gardening, cooking together, camping and traveling across the country visiting family.

Pauline especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Pauline was thoughtful, compassionate and always willing to help anyone who needed help.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents Carroll and Edith McAllister. Her sister Barbara Chapman. Brothers Watson, Larry and Earl McAllister. Husband Robert Doucette. Daughter Cathy Whalen from first marriage.

Pauline was survived by sisters Daphine “Kay” Drisko and Carolyn Pukus. daughter Diane (Whalen) Sawyer, and Jay Sawyer. Elizabeth (Whalen) Authier. Leann and John Stremkowski, Karen Menard, Kris Wells, Michael Doucette and Eric Doucette, from Roberts first marriage. 19 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on with a funeral following at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 10th at the Black-Heald & Walker Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.
