Paul Joseph Allen, Jr.

South Portland – Paul Joseph Allen Jr., 82, passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2026.

He was born on February 21, 1943, in Everett, Massachusetts, the son of the late Paul Joseph Allen Sr. and Anne Marie Allen. Paul grew up in South Portland and graduated from South Portland High School in 1962.

In 1967, he married Donna Mary Flaherty, and together they made their home in Gorham, where Paul was well known for his strong work ethic and love of the land. He owned and operated Barrows’ Greenhouses in Gorham, running the business for 50 years.

Paul served in the Maine National Guard and later remained in the reserves. He enjoyed golfing and skiing with his family and was an active member of Gorham Social Tennis for 25 years. He also took part in many community events and was deeply connected to his town.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, Paul Joseph Allen Sr. and Anne Marie Allen, and by his brother, Phillip Allen and brother-in-law David Irons.

He is survived by his wife, Donna F. Allen; his son, David M. Allen and wife Sara, and their children Jack, Jonah, and Ayla; his daughter, Meegan A. Meyers and husband Matthew, and their daughter Sam; his daughter, Jessica A. Elvin and husband Michael, and their children Anna and Cy; his sister, Patricia Irons; his brother, Peter F. Allen; his sister-in-law, Cheryl Allen; his sister, Paula Young and brother-in-law Paul; his sister, Pamela Kaufman and brother-in-law Chuck; and his brother, Patrick Allen and sister-in-law Colleen, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home of South Portland, 1024 Broadway. A gathering with family and friends will immediately follow the service at the funeral home until 4:00 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date.
