Oscar E. Couture

Oscar E. Couture, 93, of Sanford passed away after a brief illness surrounded by his family on October 30, 2013 at the Goodall Hospital in Sanford. He was born in Acton on November 9, 1919 a son of the late Peter and Alma (Hamel) Couture. He served his country in the US Army Air Forces during WWII. He retired 1985 with 15 years of service with the Sanford Post Office. He was a communicant of Holy Family parish since 1942.A man of small stature but a big personality, he enjoyed making people laugh and telling jokes.He is predeceased by his wife, Gabrielle Guillemette Couture, daughter, Patricia (Couture) Giguere.He is survived by two granddaughters, Susan Ottey and her husband, Oneil of Sanford, Donna Andrews and her husband, Brad of Danville, NH, four great grandchildren, Paige Andrews, Olivia Andrews, Anneilia Ottey, Tyrese Ottey, one brother, Phillip Couture of Gardiner, ME and his longtime companion, Bertha Lavertu.Visiting hours for Oscar will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
