Oliva J. Roberge
Oliva J. Roberge, 77, of Sanford, passed away on Friday August 29, at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford. Born on September 26, 1930, he was a son of Ernest and Emma (Johnson) Roberge. He attended local schools graduating from St. Ignatius High School in 1949.On September 8, 1956 he married the former Irene Plante at St. Ignatius Church. For several years he was employed as a salesman at the former Sanford Dairy. He was then District Circulation Manager for the Portland Press Herald. A position he held for 20 years. He retired from H.A. Mapes in 1992 where he had been employed as a salesman. Mr. Roberge had been a longtime member of the former Sanford Town Club. He enjoyed playing cards, skiing, golfing and coin collecting. In the past few years he enjoyed his morning ritual of meeting his friends and socializing at McDonald'sHe is predeceased by his parents, one sister, Constance Bernard, one brother, Raymond Roberge.A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Irene P. Roberge of Sanford, his childern, Karen R. Duplin and her husband, Bill of Parsonsfield, Michelle R. Macy of Simsbury, CT, and David P. Roberge and his wife, Jodie of Lebanon, seven grandchildren, Jesse Duplin, Lauren Duplin, J. Tyler Macy, Caitlin Macy, Rebecca Macy, Nicholas Roberge and Ashley Schoenheit, five brothers, Urbain Roberge and Armand Roberge of Sanford, Emile Roberge of Cape Cod and Florida, Edgar Roberge and Richard Roberge of Scarborough, two sisters, Lorette Zuke of Biddeford and Rachel Dupuy of Sacramento, CA.Visiting hours will be on Tuesday September 2nd from 4 to 7pm at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street, Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11am at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish-St. Ignatius Church with Fr. Paul Plante, his brother in law officiating.
