Resided in:
Raymond, Maine
South Portland - Olga M. McGeehan, 97, passed away on August 15, 2023.
Born in Surry, Maine on February 28, 1926, Olga led a life of unwavering love and commitment to her family, friends, and the communities she called home. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1945 and later made her home with her husband Edward J. McGeehan in South Portland. After Edward's passing in 2001, Olga and her dear friend and companion of many years, Bob Wolverton, enjoyed camping, fishing and spending winters in Florida.
Olga retired from Porteous, Mitchell, and Braun in 1979 after 25 years of service. Her resilience and dedication were not only evident in her professional life but also in her personal life as she raised three independent children. Her hobbies were a testament to her zest for life; she loved to knit, read, pick blueberries, spend time at the beach, and cooking for her family. Olga's love for her home on Arlington Road in South Portland was evident, and she cherished the memories made there. Olga's bond with her beloved dog Toby, held a special place in her heart.
She is survived by her children, David McGeehan and wife Beverly of CT, Maureen Niles and husband Timothy of Raymond, Karen Legendre and husband Rob of Warren; sister, Dorothy Reil; grandchildren, Kelly, Katie, Derek, Christopher, Amanda in addition to several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings Hilda, Jean, Richard, and Polly.
In the words of poet Maya Angelou, "I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it." Olga lived by this mantra, facing every challenge with resilience and determination. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service celebrating Olga's life will be held at 12PM on Tuesday, August 29 at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland.
We encourage those who knew and loved Olga to leave memories and share condolences on her memorial page.
Nanny-O (Olga) I know you are in heaven and as much as I miss you I am happy you are at peace…I remember when I teach you how to drive and that Cop pulled us over in my neighborhood because we were going to slow but after explaining we didn’t get a ticket, also when Dave n the girls and I came over for supper usually on Sunday, you had the greatest suppers, when Kelley and Katie were born you worked at Portrus in Portland and you gave the girls children’s rocking chairs and started them on collecting Mandan Alexanders dolls which they still have..I’m glad that I had time to be with you in your life and thank you for trusting me with OUR Toby and you knew how much I love OUR Toby…you were a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother…we will miss you Nanny-O..143

We miss you, Mom
We are so sorry to hear about Aunt Olga. We were unaware of her passing, otherwise we would have attended her services. She was always very kind to me, and always such a fun lady to talk to when I would bring my Mom, (Dot), to visit her for lunch in her South Portland apartment. She will be sadly missed.
My deepest sympathy,
Lori Reil
