Norman E. White

Norman E. White, 94, of Shapleigh, died April 28, 2014, just two days shy of his 95th birthday. Norman was surrounded by loving family as he went home to be with the Lord.Norman was born in South Lebanon, ME April 30, 1919 to Perley and Vena White. He was the oldest of six boys, brothers Carl, Kenneth, Leslie, Raymond & Roger, all pre deceased.On June 24, 1939 he married Hazel (Pray), his lifelong love and friend. Together they shared 70 years of marriage until her death in November, 2009. Hazel and Norman raised one daughter, Elaine Keif of Sanford Florida, sons Glenn White, David White, and Allen White, all of Shapleigh. Together Norman and Hazel grand-parented 14 grandchildren and 17 great grand children. Norman's father worked most days with his team of horses but Norman grew to love cows when he became responsible for milking the family cow when he was 10 years of age. He hoped to work with cattle after he grew up and started his own life. Norman and Hazel made this dream become reality in 1947. Norman and his brother Carl bought White's Farm on Deering Ridge road in Shapleigh. Norman and Hazel owned and operated White Bros., a Holstein dairy farm until 1969. Norman then owned and operated White's Farm with his sons, Glen, David, and Allen. Norman is survived by his daughter Elaine and husband Richard Keif, sons Glen and wife Colleen White, David and wife Sandy White, and Allen White. Grandchildren Jeffrey Keif, Jennifer Keif, Rebecca Keif and Brian and wife Tammy Keif and Sarah and husband Marc Percy, all of Florida. Glen White Jr. of Biddeford, Hollie and husband Nate Sitterly of Freemont NH, Kevin White and fiancee April of Haverhill MA., Kara and husband Rick Metcalf of Shapleigh, Ben and wife Heather of Acton, Jacob and wife Jessica of Shapleigh, Dallas and wife Oami of Portland, Nick of Shapleigh and Kim of Shapleigh Catherine Pomeroy and her husband Andrew of North Berwick and Chena Mason of Shapleigh. Great-grandchildren Barbara White, Jessie White, Devin and Zachary Sitterly, Lorin and Halley Metcalf, Amber, Mason and Jordan White, Justin Green and Jonathan and Jaelynn White.Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 1st at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.
