Norman LeMote
Norman H. LeMote, 79, of Springvale, Maine, died on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House surrounded by loved ones.Norman was born in Orange, Massachusetts on April 26, 1936. He grew up in Wells where he attended local schools. In 1953 he enlisted in the military, proudly serving in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Marine Force Recon Scout, he was stationed with the 1st Marine Brigade, Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe, Hawaii, as well as being in the 2nd Marine Divison on board of the Submarine USS Perch 313 in Pearl Harbor. After completing his military service, he worked as a police officer in Ogunquit for several years until relocating to Massachusetts, where he and his wife raised their family in Bellingham and Franklin, MA. Norman was employed as an electrician at Polaroid for 36 years until his retirement, when he and his wife Paulette returned to Maine. Norman was employed by Miller Ford and Arundel Ford after returning to Maine.Norman was very active in the Marine Corps League and was a lifetime member of the Elks, including Lodge 2136 in Franklin, MA. He was a very patriotic man and was very proud of his military service. Norman was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and took pride in providing and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed spending time at Dunkin Donuts and Wells Beach. Norman will no doubt be fondly remembered for his big blue eyes, contagious smile, sharing good jokes, chatting with everyone he met, and his big heart, including helping as Santa's helper for many years for Polaroid, the Franklin Elks, and many other non-profit organizations as well as welcoming home troops. He loved his family and will be dearly missed by everyone he has encountered.Norman was predeceased by his wife, Paulette Drouin-LeMote in 2005 and by his daughter, Michelle LeMote in 1977.Surviving are three children, Steven LeMote of Sanford, David LeMote and his wife Bonnie of Milford, Massachusetts and Jennifer LeMote and her companion Nicholas Pallas of South Portland and four grandchildren, Devin LeMote, Dylan LeMote, Ricky Woodworth and Brooklyn Pallas.Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, December 27th at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 28th at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery located on Stanley Road in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Road, Scarborough, Maine 04074.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence for the family please click on the condolences tab to the left.
