Norma (Webber) Evans, 90, of Shapleigh, Maine passed away on January 30, 2021 after a good fight with kidney failure. Norma was born on April 10, 1930, the daughter of Theodore and Bernadine (Ridley) Webber and was the oldest of their 6 children. She grew up in Shapleigh, attending local schools and graduated from Sanford High School in 1949. She married Harold Evans Sr. and raised their 4 children together, living in Sanford/Springvale and spending summers at Square Pond, then after his retirement they wintered in Sarasota, FL. Norma achieved her LPN degree in 1969 and worked at Henrietta D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford then as a private duty nurse in Sarasota, retiring at the age of 80. She was a 50+ year member of the Springvale Chapter of Eastern Star. Norma was involved in her communities being an active member of the Acton -Shapleigh Historical Society and a life long affiliate of the North Parish Congregational Church in Sanford and the Shapleigh Corner Baptist Church. She volunteered at the Senior Friendship Center in Sarasota and during the annual Acton Fair - usually in the flower booth. She is pre-deceased by her husband Harold Sr, son Bryant and siblings Edith, Fred and Teddy. She will be deeply missed and is survived by her companion Jack Boyd of Shapleigh, son Irving of Fremont, NH and wife Ellen, son David of Sarasota, FL and wife Carolyn, daughter Debbie Petersen of Sanford, ME and husband Dana. Grandchildren Cynthia Herrera, Chelsea Loe and husband Quentin, Jeffrey Evans, Victoria Evans and Jillian Evans. Great-grandsons Grayson and Jackson Loe. Sisters Joy Clark of Orange Park, FL, Frances Eppich of Sarasota, FL and brother Clif Dunnells of Shapleigh, ME. Extended family Vicki & Larry LaRochelle, Tom, Darryl, David and Brenda Boyd. Many friends, great neighbors, nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 29 at 10:00 A.M. at Highland Grove Cemetery in North Shapleigh. In her memory and if so desired, donations can be made to the Acton-Shapleigh Historical Society, PO Box 496, Springvale, ME 04083.
