GEORGETOWN MA - Mrs. Noreen Ann (McInnis) Carrier, 81 of Georgetown MA, beloved wife of Raymond Carrier, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at her home. Born in Mexico, ME, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Cameron) McInnis. Raised and educated in Mexico, she was a graduate of Mexico High School, class of 1956. After marrying, Noreen and Ray moved to Newburyport, MA, where they raised their family, and returned to Maine in retirement. When Ray's health issues became apparent they moved back to MA to be closer to their children. A loving wife of nearly 60 years, Noreen spent the last few of them caring for Ray as the debilitating disease of dementia took over his world. When he moved to long term care Noreen devoted almost every day to visiting him, often joining in the activities so that he could fully enjoy them. On her visits she took great pride in bringing cheer to all around her. Noreen's work history included retail and food service, but her most favorite job was running the coffee shop at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, where her nurturing and caring personality endeared her to the many people she had the pleasure to serve. Noreen enjoyed the activities provided by the Georgetown Council of Aging and she was an active member of the St. James Church in Groveland, where she was especially proud of singing in the choir. She also loved participating in weekly bible study. This was a place and a community that brought her tremendous joy. Noreen will be deeply missed by her loving family and many friends. In addition to her husband Raymond, Noreen is survived by her children, Catherine Hursty (Paul) of South Hamilton MA, Raymond Carrier, Jr., (partner Jean) of Haverhill MA, Michelle Wilson of Amesbury MA and Robert Carrier of Amesbury MA, her 7 grandchildren, Emily Lawson (Scott), Lindsay Messina (Matthew), Patrick Wilson (partner Mia), Sean Wilson, Eryca Carrier, Kaitlyn Carrier and Isabella Carrier, 2 great-grandchildren, Grace and Isla Messina, her brother Lawrence (affectionately known to her as 'Lala') McInnis of Portland, ME and many loving nieces and nephews, several of whom she kept in close contact with. She was the sister of the late Bernard, Frederick and Francis McInnis. As a way to honor Noreen's festive spirit the family requests all visitors feel free to wear something reflective of the holiday season. Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday, December 29 from 11-1PM at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A Celebration of Noreen's Life will follow at 1PM. The Carrier family invites friends and loved ones to join them after the service at the Italian Heritage Center, 40 Westland Ave, Portland ME, in continued celebration of Noreen's life.
