Noel J. Grondin
Noel J. Grondin, 81, of Sanford passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, in Scarborough.He was born on Christmas Day,December 25, 1937 the son of Cyrille and Yvonne (Roy) Grondin in Lebanon where he spent most of his childhood and attended school. He then went to work on their farm on Beaver Hill in Springvale, until he enlisted in the military.Noel served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1960. Upon leaving the military he went to work in Springvale for Ernest Tardiff as an electrician. He took his experience to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he received his education as a master electrician and was employed for over 30 years.He was a member of several local social clubs including the American Legion, VFW, Knights of Columbus in Springvale, and the Elks Lodge.Noel was a fun loving person, and would help others in any way he could. Being very handy , he could fix just about anything. His family remembers that in 1969, during the Sanford bi-centennial festivities, he won 2nd place in a handlebar mustache contest. He also enjoyed hunting with his brothers. He is predeceased by his parents, a brother Marcel Grondin and a sister Rita Jourdain.Survivors include four children, Rachel Grondin of Springvale, Roland Grondin of Virginia, Renee Bertrand of Kennebunk and Roxanne Timmons and her husband Bryan of Wareham, MA, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren, two brothers, Ronald Grondin and his wife Lorraine and Roger Grondin and his wife Donna, a sister Lorraine St. Pierre and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave. in Sanford.
