Nicholas "Nick" Beram

South Portland – Nicholas “Nick” Beram, 80, the best friend and loving husband of Prudence Bean, passed away on January 2, 2026, from Scleroderma, a devastating autoimmune disease.

Nick was born on August 8, 1945, in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Zammar) Beram. He grew up in Dedham, Massachusetts, and graduated from Dedham High School. He went on to attend Northeastern University, where he studied economics.

Nick enjoyed a diverse and accomplished career. He worked for 18 years as a data analyst at Aetna and also taught programming at the University of Hartford. He and Pru opened Sir Speedy Printing in Bristol which they operated for 5 years. He later served as a client liaison with SunGard Insurance Systems, working in both Natick, Massachusetts, and Edinburgh, Scotland.

He was a lifelong Patriots and Red Sox fan and was able to see Ted Williams play at Fenway; a thrill he talked about for years. In retirement, Nick dedicated his time to volunteering with the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, the AARP Tax-Aide program, the Maine Senior Games, and taught programming. He loved traveling throughout the United States, Europe, and South America, and found great joy in nature, long walks, and spending time with his family. Nick was a kind and humorous man whose warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit touched all who knew him.

Nick was predeceased by his son, Matthew Beram; and a brother, Alfred (Fred) Beram. He is survived by his wife of 42 years wife, Prudence Bean; children, April Erkson and husband Cliff, Joseph Beram; 2 grandchildren, Jessica Erkson, Joshua Erkson and wife Meghan; 2 great grandchildren, Emma and Margo; a brother, George Beram; and many nieces and nephews

Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home of South Portland.
