Nathan K. Monroe, 32, of Sanford, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, February 20, 2015.Nathan, affectionately known as "Skidder Nate" by his family and friends, was born in Sanford on January 11, 1983 to Garry and Cynthia (McLeod) Monroe. He grew up in Effingham, New Hampshire where he attended local schools, graduating from Kingswood Regional High School in 2002. He had worked as a logger, owning and operating Monroe Logging while living in the Effingham area. He moved to the Sanford area eight months ago and had been employed at Tom's of Maine in Sanford.Nathan was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, having campfires and doing practically anything that involved spending time outdoors. He loved animals and especially likes to watch the horse pulls at the fairs. Nathan was a loving and devoted father and always cherished the time that he spent with his boys. He had a great sense of humor and always had a funny story to tell or a joke to share. He will be remembered as a man with a very kind and caring heart and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Nathan was predeceased by his father, Garry D. Monroe.Surviving are his three sons, Hunter, Wyatt and Hayden Monroe; his mother, Cynthia Monroe of Springvale; two sisters, Erica Monroe-Shanks and her husband Joe of Tamworth, New Hampshire and Heidi Wildes of Nottingham, New Hampshire; a brother, Jonathan S. Kennett of Tamworth, New Hampshire; his grandparents, F. Wayne and Dorothy Monaghan of Tennessee; aunts and uncles Jo-Ann and Ronald Barnes of Lebanon and Daniel and Alexandra MacLeod of Ossipee, New Hampshire and nieces and nephews, Brooke Shanks, Tyler, Deven, Colby, Noah and Kegin.A celebration of life and potluck dinner will be held from noon to 6:00 PM on Saturday, March 21st at the AMVETS Post 3, located at 169 School Street in Sanford. The family asks that you bring a favorite dish and a funny story of Nathan to share.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider sending a memorial contribution to the Animal Welfare Society, Inc., P.O.
