Minerva Hutchins Littlefield
Minerva Hutchins Littlefield, 91, of Springvale, died on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Pavilion in Sanford.Minerva was born in Westbrook on August 21, 1921 to Winfield and Mildred (Wheet) Hutchins. She grew up in Springvale and attended local schools, graduating from Sanford High School in 1940. In 1944 she married Howard Littlefield and together they raised four children. She was employed for many years as a weaver in the Sanford textile mills.Minerva was an active member of the Pleasant Street Free Baptist Church for most of her life where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed flower gardening, swimming and baking. Minerva always had freshly baked cookies available for visitors to her home. This earned her the nickname "Aunt Cookie" with her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed traveling and took many cross country train trips with her husband to visit relatives. Minerva devoted her life to caring for her family. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Minerva was predeceased by her husband, Howard Littlefield and by a brother, Frederick W. Hutchins.Surviving are four children, Bruce Littlefield and his wife Hazel of Jackson, ME, Jay Littlefield and his wife Bonnie of Monticello, FL, Wayne Littlefield and his wife Marliss of Renton, WA and Ellen Doyle of Springvale; two sisters, Priscilla H. Bucklin of Sanford and Louise H. Lush of Eagle River, AK and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 15th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale.
