Michael Therrien

Michael L. Therrien, 56, of Shapleigh, died at his home on Monday, January 31, 2011.Michael was born in Groton, MA on May 1, 1954 to Robert and Elsie (Ryll) Therrien. He grew up in Townsend, MA and attended local schools, graduating from North Middlesex High School in 1972. Following high school he attended the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut and then Fitchburg State College and Mount Wachusett Community College in Massachusetts. In 1973 he married Bonnie Stockman and they spent the next 37 years together and raised two children.Michael owned and operated his own auto repair business for many years in Townsend and Winchendon, MA. He went on to teach auto technology at Minute Man Tech in Lexington, MA and Franklin Institute in Boston for several years. In 2000 he and his wife moved to Maine and he went to work for the Sanford Regional Vocational Center where he taught auto technology for nine years. Michael was a devoted teacher and enjoyed teaching his students and preparing them for college. He will be remembered as loving husband, father and brother and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Michael was predeceased by his parents.Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Therrien of Shapleigh; a son, Bill Therrien and his companion Jessica Benoit of Townsend, MA; a daughter, Lisa Hatfield and her husband Joel of Manchester, ME and a brother, Robert Therrien of Hull, MA.Services for a Michael will be held at a later date.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Bonnie L.
