Rangeley- Michael A. Moroney, 77, of Deer Cliff Run, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Maine Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born in Danbury, Connecticut on February 6, 1938 the son of the late James and Theresa Moroney. He attended local schools, graduating from Hall High School in the class of 1955. Michael continued his education receiving his BA in Geology from Trinity College and a Masters Degree in Management Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. On June 8, 1963, Mike married Mary-Ellen Carey in West Hartford, CT. Mike began his career with Pratt-Whitney where he worked in data processing in the early years of computers. He later began his own business, Computer Assistance Services which created and built software for the Insurance Industry. His career in Information Technology spanned more than forty years. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a longtime member of the NRA and the Maine Guides and Sportsmans Association. He served as Chairman of the Falmouth Republican Town Committee and was the First Assessor of Sandy River Plantation. He was also the Treasurer of the Highland-Overlook Landowners Association for over ten years. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker, skier, boater and camper, activities he enjoyed with family and friends. His love of the outdoors led him and his wife to design and build their Log Cabin in Rangeley, Maine. Michael was predeceased by a son, Sean Kevin Moroney, in 1989 and a sister Mary Ann OSullivan. He is survived by his wife of 52 years Mary-Ellen Carey Moroney of Rangeley; a daughter Maureen and Sean Flynn of Acton, MA; two sons Michael and Lynn Moroney of Suffield, CT, and Brian and Kristin Moroney of Cumberland Foreside, ME; a sister Sr. Miriam Moroney of Marlboro, MA; eight grandchildren Colleen, Daniel, Catherine, Kyla and Jake Moroney, Elish, Liam, and Delaney Flynn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at 11:00am at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 266 Foreside Road, Falmouth. A service and burial will be held at a later date in Rangeley, Maine.   1. Mary Ellen, Kindly accept our sincere condolences. We are shocked. I left a message for Mike just 3 days ago on his cell. I wish I had known earlier so I could have come over to see him. I pray Lord to rest the departed soul in peace. This is an irrecoverable loss to all family members & friends. As you know I have been known Mike for 25 years now.
