Michael Scott Lorenz

South Portland- It is with great sadness that the family of Michael S. Lorenz announces his passing on January 15, 2018. Michael was 58 years old. He was the last surviving son of the late John W. Lorenz Sr. and V. Jean (Osborn) Lorenz. Michael leaves one wonderful daughter, Melissa Lorenz Napper and her husband, Chad. He had one granddaughter, Elaina, and one step-grandson, Ayden. He is survived by his former wife, Tammy Sargent Cole; sisters, Joan C. McAbee (Edward) of York, Maine and Julianne Galkin (Harris) of Rumford, RI, and sister-in-law, Kathy Lorenz, of Weare, NH. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased in death by his best friends through thick-and-thin, his brothers: John W. Lorenz, Jr., Robert O. Lorenz, Paul J. Lorenz, and Timothy J. Lorenz. Michael was kind and generous. He was a welder, by trade and worked in the Portsmouth/Greenland area for many years. He was always eager to tell anyone who would listen about the scholastic and athletic achievements of his Melissa. His face would light up with a 100 watt smile at even the mention of her name. They were separated by many miles over the years, but she was, by far, his greatest accomplishment. Burial will be private at Calvary Cemetery in Portsmouth, NH.
