Michael A. Koshar

Portland-Michael A. Koshar Sr., 52, of Woodford Street and formerly of Sanford, died Thursday, May 18, 2017, at his home. He was born in Cooperstown, New York, on June 13, 1964, a son of Edward W. and Elizabeth I. (Gorney) Koshar. He graduated from Cooperstown Senior High School, class of 1984. In his youth Michael was a volunteer of the Fly Creek NY fire Department Michael was a loving, caring, and helpful man who is remembered as a wonderful brother and uncle. He treasured spending time with his family and enjoyed walking, bingo, and cookouts. He was a member of the River of Life Church in Sanford. Michael is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by a son, Michael A. Koshar Jr. of Methuen, Massachusetts; a sister, Anne Koshar of Sanford; two nephews Nicholas Couture of Portland and Liam Couture of Sanford; a great niece, Maryann Koshar; his Godmother and aunt Josie Bliss of Cooperstown; his aunts Mary Koshar of Utica, New York, Dorothy of California and Olga Koshar of Albany, New York; along with several cousins A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 1:00 pm at 42 Lenox Street, Sanford, for family and friends to share their memories of Michael.
