South Portland – Michael Kelley, 82, passed away unexpectedly on December 19, 2025, at Pinnacle at South Portland nursing home.
He was born on March 7, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Elwood Harold and Hazel Barnes Kelley. He was a graduate of Caribou High School, and the University of Southern Maine.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Michael was deeply committed to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife Anne of 58 years; his sons, Sean and Michael; his daughter-in-law, Windy; and his grandchildren, Camden, Logan, and Austin. He was a devoted son-in-law of the late Clifford and Theresa Byram; and is also survived by his brother, Bill Kelley. He was predeceased by brothers, Harold and Lewis (Tuey).
Michael had a long career in real estate sales and appraisals. Michael will be remembered for his smile, his laugh, and his wicked sense of humor. He was an avid student of history. He loved the outdoors and all the wild places throughout Maine, whether it be fishing, canoe-camping the Allagash River, or sailing on Casco Bay. He was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast, and was always up for a ride, including local and long multi-state/province trips on his Road King with his wife, brother Bill, and friends. Michael was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in South Portland, and later St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Scarborough.
The family would like to thank the firefighters/EMTs of the South Portland Fire Department for their compassionate assistance over the past few years. The family would also like to thank the staff at Pinnacle at South Portland for working to keep Michael happy and comfortable and for taking exceptionally wonderful care of him.
