Michael D. Bacon Sr., 63, of No. Attleboro, MA, a longtime resident of Sanford, passed away peacefully at home on May 26 with his family beside him after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.He was born on March 26, 1946 in Sanford, the son of John and Jeannette (Vir) Bacon.Michael grew up, went to school and lived most of his life in Sanford. In 2000, he and his wife, Laureen Westcott, moved to No. Attleboro Massachusetts with her work for Tyco Electronics. Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, and a generous friend. He was a talented photographer, dart thrower, pool player, Quarter Mile Strip racer and bargain hunter. He was proud of his Irish heritage and dreamed of visiting Ireland. Being with his family was his favorite past time. Whether it was sitting telling stories of childhood with his siblings, taking his grandchildren to Chuck E Cheese or starting the annual Thanksgiving "Dinner Roll Fight," he enjoyed every minute with them. Michael was a builder. He built cars, houses, computers and memories. He enjoyed occupations working with his hands and the public. He loved interacting with the people he met and sharing knowledge and stories. He was generous with his time, being part of the Waterboro Lions Club, the No. Attleboro Lions Club, the No. Attleboro Masons, and volunteering for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life; and he was selfless with his condition, taking part in every medical trial and experimental treatment he qualified for, no matter what the side affects, in hopes that it would help his son, grandsons and other men someday. Michael was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Claire (Bacon) Racicott.He is survived by his wife Laureen Westcott; son Michael D. Bacon Jr., his wife Melissa and their children Marissa and Mason Bacon; daughter Carolyn (Bacon) Deshaies, her husband Michael T. Deshaies Sr. and their children Jacob Worley, Jason, Michael Jr., Kimberly and Kaitlyn Deshaies; and daughter Tiffanie Bacon and her children Desiree and Allie Bacon. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers; Reinette Bacon, Rachel (Bacon) Munroe, Rita (Bacon) Thibeault, Claudette (Bacon) Gray, Ronald Bacon, Dr. Paul Bacon, Maurice Bacon, Judy (Bacon) Hayes, James Bacon, Terrance Bacon; and many nieces and nephews that he cherished.Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 6-8 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Sanford First Baptist Church with the Rev. Virginia Gass officiating.
