Michael J. Ahern 1955-2022 SACO--Michael J. Ahern, 66, of Saco, passed away Monday January 24, in Scarborough following a brief illness. He was born September 3, 1955 in Portland the son of Joseph G. Sr. and Gloria (Thibodeau) Ahern. Mike grew up in South Portland and graduated from South Portland High School in 1974. He worked for several companies over the years, doing route sales. For the last 18 years he was an independent contractor for Fed Ex Ground, just recently retiring. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and dancing. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the New York Yankees. A few years back, he enjoyed throwing darts with his team, the Flame Throwers, along with his brother Tim. He was an amazing father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He greeted everyone he knew with a hug and a smile. He had just enjoyed a successful deer hunt with his son, Justin. Mike was predeceased by his father, Joseph Ahern, Sr. He is survived by his children Justin Ahern and his wife Melissa of Windham and Jannelle Ahern and her fiance, Dustin Stovall of Westbrook; his mother, Gloria Ahern of South Portland; his sisters, Sharon Leeman and her husband William of South Portland and Shirley Smith and her husband Michael of South Portland; his brothers, Steven Ahern and his wife Karen Smith of Bradenton, FL, Joseph Ahern, Jr. of South Portland and Timothy Ahern of South Portland; his grandchildren, Charlotte Ahern, Kasside Ahern, Keegan McBean and Kyrah Stovall along with five nieces and six nephews. A memorial visitation will be held at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland on Saturday February 5 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Mike, you made my day coming to the office even if you brought product I would sooner seen dumped in Casco Bay! ” Dang Mike …..where the heck am I gonna put that crap?” I won’t repeat the response ..haha. We had a great time talking Yankees and going back and forth about the Patriots. You were in high school as you were to the very end a pleasure to be around. You will be missed but I know you are up there in the Heaven’s above, smiling down on your family. To your family ………my deepest condolences…..he was someone who made his mark in this world. I was lucky enough to see Mike 3-5 times a week over the past 18 years at the Maine Mall (Patrick’s Hallmark, Brookstone, Papyrus, etc.) He always spread love & laughter, and a left a little bit of his strength and tenacity behind for those of us who might need it any given day.   14. I only knew Mike through work. He was always hard working. Always had a gripe. Always had a funny story. It may have only been a couple minutes a day but it made my whole day talking with him.   19. Just heard about Mike’s passing, so sorry for your loss. I saw Mike daily for five years that I worked in retail, he was one-of-a-kind. Always excited to see me and greeted me with a smack on the back and a bone crushing handshake. We enjoyed shooting the **** about our day-to-day, especially during the summer when we’d swap stories about our exploits in OOB. So funny, and according to him, the world’s best dancer. I miss that guy.
