Maurice A. Hebert

Maurice Arthur Hebert, 78, of Springvale, Maine passed away peacefully in the company of his loving wife on Monday, March 30th, 2020. He was born in Sanford, Maine on December 30th, 1941, the son of Alphonse and Lucienne (Vallee) Hebert.Maurice attended St. Ignatius High School and went on to study at St. Joseph in New Brunswick, Canada. In December of 1961, he enlisted in the US Navy. During his service, he married the love of his life Margaret Robichaud of Sanford in front of friends and family at St. Ignatius Church on August 10th, 1963. He achieved the rank of Yeomen Second Class and served aboard the USS Bulwark during The Cuban Missile Crisis. His service time ended in August of 1965 and he continued to serve in the US Naval Reserves. Maurice and Margaret continued to live in the south until 1966 when they moved back to Sanford. He was Honorably Discharged from the Navy on August 28th, 1967. Later that year Maurice began his long, illustrious textile career at Brooks Woolen Mills. During his twenty-two years with the company, Maurice held numerous titles and finished as Plant Manager. The traveling phase of his work adventure began with a stop in Claremont, NH. After a couple of years, he came back to the area and joined Biddeford Blankets as Vice President of Sales. The company was later purchased by Microlife and opened the world to Maurice. Chicago became his second home, while he jet-set around the country and made stops all over the world. He touched the lives of all those he met in Chicago, New York, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Shenzhou, Singapore, Taipei, Vietnam and the Philippines. Those he met became forever lasting friends. Out of love for his profession, Maurice continued to work and never officially retired.Maurice also had a passion for culinary arts and started M&M Catering with his wife, father-in-law (Ernest Robichaud), Chef Normand Roy and brother-in-law (Ron Robichaud) in 1977. It truly was a family business and turned helpful friends into extended family. M&M Catering helped celebrate numerous special occasions and many service organizations in the community for over ten years.Maurice's favorite place in the world was his camp on Sebec Lake in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. While many trophy fish were caught and big game were hung, he was most proud of the good times had by those that created lifelong memories. Maurice is predeceased by his parents Alphonse and Lucienne (Vallee) Hebert and in-laws Ernest and Rejeanne Robichaud.Maurice is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Margaret Hebert, bother-in-law Ronald Robichaud, his daughter Theresa, husband Gordie Salls and their children Justin and wife Erin, Emily and significant other Bryce Lambert, oldest son David, wife Kelly and their children Samantha and Matthew, son Marc, wife Lisa and children Chloe and Katherine and in his eyes, he also had an adopted son, Steve Cabana.Due to the current circumstances there will be no visiting hours or funeral services. A celebration of life will be held at a time and date to be determined. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Sanford Alumni Association, P.O.
