Biddeford - Mary (Eagan) Fisher, 65, passed away on March 5, 2024 at a Portland hospital with family at her side. Mary was born on August 25, 1958 in Portland, the daughter of the late Francis "Darby" L. and Mary T. (Mannion) Eagan.
Mary lived an extraordinary life—one full of love and determination. She had the gift of gab and a talent for making everyone around her smile and shine a little brighter. The second Bruce saw her on a blind date at the Bramhall Pub it was love at first sight. He knew he had found his lifetime companion, and she hers.
Her life was filled with one medical challenge after another, but she was a fighter and outran and conquered anything that was thrown her way—not letting her life be defined by it. She would also reach out to the young medical students she encountered and teach them about what she was going through, and getting those who hadn’t seen an amputation to thoroughly touch and inspect to learn more about care for others. Her empathy was a superpower that we all benefited from.
A delicious baker, professional crafter, loyal friend, reader, avid volunteer in schools and with animal charities for decades, she lived for every moment and savored it. Her charming smile and sparkling, sometimes wicked sense of humor, lit up a room. She loved traveling and exploring with her husband—from watching Maui sunsets to traveling down Dublin streets.
She will be remembered forever for all the love and compassion she poured into her family and being a model for what kindness, courage, and compassion can do in this world.
Mary was the loving wife of Bruce Fisher for 43 amazing years, mother extraordinaire to Ashley and Tristan, and the legendary, doting “Moma” to four unbelievably lucky and loved-beyond-words grandkids. She adored her daughter-in-law Alina and was a best friend and rock to her son-in-law Zak. She was also the kind sister to Ann Eagan of Portland and Tom Eagan of Cumberland.
Plans for a memorial celebration will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland.
In lieu of flowers, donations or acts of service to local animal shelters would be a wonderful way to honor Mary's spirit. The family asks that you help send her along to her next adventure with love and kindness in your heart.

She was my sun, my moon, my stars. So all I have to do is look up any time of day or night and she’s with me again. But I do miss her company and voice with an ache that will never heal.

Dear Mary,
It is impossible to think of you without smiling, for that is what you were doing every single time I saw you. No matter what life through at you, you remained upbeat, thoughtful, generous, kind, and smiling.
I am blessed that you accepted me, not only as a friend, but as extended family. Memories of your smile, whether we were shopping, having lunch, taking a Halloween trip to Salem, or just texting, will always be with me.
Sending you off with love, tears in my eyes, and a big smile on my face.

Mary always held a welcoming genuine smile, a smile that immediately put you at ease. She was a good decent soul that showed much grace and courage. She was one gutsy lady.
To Bruce and their children, I am sorry for your loss.
“The Best! “ Mary had the biggest heart ever! There will never be another one like her !
