Mary Hazel Blanchard

Scarborough - Mary Hazel Blanchard, died peacefully at home, on July 24, 2018, surrounding by her loving and devoted family. She was 98 years old. Hazel was born in Westbrook, Maine, in 1920, the daughter of John and Mary Dunn Keefe. She attended Westbrook schools, graduating from Westbrook High School in 1938. Hazel married Harold Blanchard of Houston, Texas, giving birth to their son, Brad, in 1954. Hazel was employed at Shaw's West Gate for 24 years until her retirement in 1986. Her husband passed away in 1978, and she was also predeceased by her brother, John, and sister Gardinal, Keefe. Hazel is survived by her son, Bradford, daughter in law, Angelika, and grandson, Nathan. The family moved from Portland to Scarborough in 1989 where they have continued to live to this day. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the care givers of both Casco Bay Dialysis, and Mercy Hospital Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30AM on Monday, July 30 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 150 Black Point Rd, Scarborough. Interment will follow at St. Hyacinth Cemetery, Westbrook. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home of South Portland.
