Martin L. Coyne

Westbrook- Martin L. Coyne, 70, of Spring Street, died on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Martin was born in Portland, Maine on November 6, 1944 the son of the late Patrick and Margaret (Flaherty) Coyne. He graduated from Deering High School and attended Bentley College. He was a longtime employee of L.L. Bean working as a mail clerk retiring in 2009, returning for seasonal work until 2014. Martin enjoyed sports, playing chess on line with people all over the world, spending time with his cat, Sunday and was a thirty one year friend of Bill W. Martin was a communicant of St. Josephs Catholic Church. Martin is survived by his wife Lucia (Minervino) Coyne; two sisters Mary Gleason of Westbrook, ME.; Sister Margaret Coyne, R.S.M. of Portland, ME; a brother Peter and his wife Helen Coyne of Kingwood, TX; two nieces Catherine and her husband Mark Miller and their daughters Marissa and Eliza of The Woodlands, TX and Aileen Coyne of Houston, TX; a nephew Brian Coyne of Portland, ME. He is also survived by three stepchildren Charles West of Farmingdale, ME, Michael and his wife Dawn West and their son Michael of Augusta, ME, Jennifer West of Charleston, SC. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday, October 1st at 10:15am followed by an 11:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Josephs Church, 673 Stevens Ave, Portland. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
