South Portland- Mark Leet died unexpectedly in South Portland Maine, Thursday February 19 following a short illness.

Mark was born in Salem, Massachusetts, to the late Chester A. Leet.  He is survived by his mother Kathryn (Kay) Bartnicki Leet, Sisters Tammi (Leet) Hurley and Andrea Leet.  He had a nephew, Steven Leet.  2 nieces, Heather Hurley, and Elora Leet, 2 Step-grandchildren Serenity Hall and Jason Thompson Jr., Several great nieces and nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Mark had a knack for making friends easily and created tight friendships, many of them lasting a lifetime.  He loved his family and friends wholeheartedly and unconditionally.  He was always helpful to family, friends & strangers alike.

Mark had a love of all things’ cars.  As a child he would collect and build models of his favorite cars. Often customizing them by adding opening doors, working lights, realistic engines and more. Mark studied auto repair in high school and mentored mechanical friends through his teen years.  The majority of his working life was also devoted to cars, working primarily as a car mechanic and tow truck driver.

Mark and his family lived his formative years in Salem, Ma and Merrimac, Ma.  He spent the last 35 years living in and around Concord NH, and Portland ME.

A celebration of life honoring Mark will be planned for the spring of 2026.

  2. Hey uncle Marky it’s Charlie I know you hated when I called you that but I thought of you like that so it’s to bad that you didn’t like it but you will alway hold a special spot in my life and my heart.
    Like wearing that big bra on are heads together and running around to find beer for the pig roast 🤣 when we were out before it even started i love you god rest you soul and may you walk with yahshua in that big yard of cars that he has waiting for you.

  3. Mark this candle isn’t the one we would light! But know I’m tapping the next few to the sky for my pops. Cuz I know thats how we rolled! Damn Mark leaving us so soon man. You where like a dad to me! I knew you for over half my life, you took me under your wing. You taught me a lot about life. you was always the one I’d call just to talk myself through something I thought I needed your help with, which I did I needed pops advice to make sure I was doing it right. I’ll miss those random calls to see how I was. Or the every day texts “morning son.” Yeah we had our screaming matches but we would always get through it. I’ll miss your old ass!! RIP pops

  4. Mark was a great guy, I only knew him for a few years. Everytime I went to Jimmy’s, Mark was always there. We’d sit for hours talking, playing cribbage, and eating. Mark was a great cook also. He made me laugh and smile. I’m going to miss him BIG TIME. REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND. I’LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE. PRAYERS TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS. LOVE YA BUD…
