Marguerite J. Lesperance

Marguerite Payeur Gagne Lesperance, 82, of Acton, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday September 17th, 2006, after a long illness. She was born in Somersworth, NH, on June 19, 1924, the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Belanger) Payeur. After her mother's early death, she was adopted by Edmund and Alphonsine Gagne.She graduated from St. Ignatius School. On May 18, 1946 she married Leo Lesperance at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Springvale,where they both remained communicants of the parish. She worked for many years in the offices of local shoe factories. She was a charter member and past president of the VFW Auxillary and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She thoroughly enjoyed attending the school and sporting events of her daughters and grandchildren, her Friday night Domino parties, travelling, and all the wonderful times that she had with family and friends at Province and Silver Lakes. She and Leo built a retirement home on the shores of Mousam Lake. Her favorite pastimes were cooking for her family and friends, crocheting, sewing, and creating yearly Christmas ornaments for her family.She will be greatly missed by Leo, her husband of 60 years. Her sister, Theresa and husband Leo Bourque of Somersworth, NH, two daughters, Sylvia and her husband, Dick Payeur of Westbrook, ME, Susan and her husband, Bob Dunfey of York, ME ; four grandchildren, Erica and her husband Phillip Hranicka of Portland, OR, Keri Payeur of New York City, Bobby and Jessica Dunfey of York, ME.Visiting hours will be on Tuesday September 19 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Lafrance -Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11am at Notre Dame Catholic, Payne Street in Springvale.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the American Heart Association, 51 US Rte 1, Suite M, Scarborough, Maine 04074.Condolences may be expressed by using the "condolence" tab to the left.
