Portland – Margaret W. “Peggy” Saucier, 81, passed away on September 28, 2024, in Portland. Peggy was born on September 8, 1943, in Machias, daughter of the late Aubert and Bernice (Morse) Saucier.

Peggy attended Scarborough High School, graduating in 1962. She played basketball and softball during her school years and was a proud member of the National Honor Society. As a young woman, she enjoyed drag racing at Oxford Plains Speedway, bowling with a league, deer hunting and snowmobiling. Later in life, Peggy became a member of the Red Hat Society.

For 25 years, Peggy worked as an office manager for Dr. Peter T. Cyr’s dental practice, where her favorite part of the job was meeting new people. Family was at the heart of Peggy’s life—she was affectionately known as “Grandy” or “Grandy Peg” by her grandchildren; she centered her world around her children and family. Peggy notoriously hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas, cooking up memorable meals for her loved ones. She also loved to travel, with trips to Ireland, Bermuda, Wyoming, and Nevada among her favorite adventures. Peggy was known for her dry sense of humor, which brought smiles and laughter to those around her; she will be dearly missed.

Peggy is predeceased by her brother, Dennis Saucier; great-grandchildren, Michael and Wesson; brother-in-law, Ralph “Bud” Finch; nephews, Scott and Chad Saucier. She is survived by her awesome children, Rhonda and her husband Jeffery Peebles, and Kevin Libby; grandchildren, Corey and his wife Jessica Gallant, Amanda and her husband Darren Dunnells, Mary Peebles, Morgan Libby; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Kyle, Hunter, Guage, and MJ; sister, Laureen Finch; nieces and nephews, Darcy, Buddy, Dan, Nicole, and many other extended family members.

Peggy will be laid to rest at Brooklawn Memorial Park privately with her family.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Peggy and I went through school together !We were always good friends! Sorry to all her family! Love, Diane Mitchell Brown

  2. Peggy was my Curves instructor and then friend for many years. I was just thinking about going to visit her again when I read of her passing.

  3. I am so sad that Peggy has passed on.
I have so many good memories of her over the years, and will hold them close in my heart.
She is flying with the angels and watching over her family now.
    Forever rest in peace, cousin.
    Elaine Morse Hodnett. ❤️

  4. I am so sorry to hear about Grandy’s passing. She was like another grandmother to me and I know she is greatly missed by everyone that knew her.

  5. Amanda was my best friend growing up. Grandy took me in and treated me like another grandchild, especially when I lost my own grandmother. She was always there for me even when I’d show up at her house without Amanda.

  6. I worked with Peggy at Dr. Cyr’s office for years. I have since retired from dental hygiene and now I am an office manager. She is my inspiration. My condolences to her family and friends.

  7. Rhonda & Kevin and family, Special thoughts are with you at this time. Peggy was a wonderful friend and we did lots of fun things – going to Craft fairs, out to eat, and the best was going for an Ice Cream. I met Peggy at Curves in Gorham and we become good friends. So sorry for your loss. A Friend Shirley

  8. You will be forever missed and loved by family and friends. We lost a great lady but Heaven has gained another great Angel.
