Falmouth, Maine-Margaret A. Jefferson, 89, passed away on November 30, 2014, after a long illness. Margaret Marge Jefferson, nee Weller, was born in the bustling coal mining town of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, in 1925. She attended high school and business school in Pennsylvania before going to work for the Pennsylvania Bell telephone company. Ms. Jefferson later moved to Atlanta and worked as a bookkeeper and accountant before settling in Washington, DC in the early 1960s. A member of the Greatest Generation, Marge was present in Washington for some of the great watershed moments in history including the Civil Rights movement. Marge moved to the Rockville, Maryland, area in 1978 and continued to work as a private accountant until retirement. For 46 years she was a devoted friend of Bill Wilson and through adherence to the steps provided spiritual guidance and counsel to hundreds of fellow FOBs. Marge moved to Maine in retirement in 1998 with her best friend Judith A. Madigan. Over the last 15 years Marge has resided in Maine and is an adopted member of the John S. Madigan family of Portland. Marge is pre-deceased by her mother, father, sisters, a brother, and by her former husband, Randall Jefferson She is survived by best friend, Judith A. Madigan, and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the direction of the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland.
