Marcia E. Goodwin

Marcia E. Goodwin, 77, of Sanford, died on October 3, 2016 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.Marcia was born in Portsmouth, NH on January 16, 1939 to James and Flora (Card) Woodford. She grew up and attended local schools in York. After high school she moved to Sanford to attend Nasson College where she met her husband Bruce Goodwin. While her children were young she was a homemaker. She then worked for 18 years at Recknagles in Sanford where they made school sweaters. When she left there she went to work as a librarian at the Springvale Public Library for over 20 years until her health declined and she was unable to continue.Marcia was a member of the North Parish Congregational Church in Sanford and sang in the choir. She loved gardening, quilting, reading and especially her two beloved cats. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, and her brother Edward Woodford.Survivors include a sister Laura Edwards of Fisher's Island, NY, a brother Warren Woodford and his wife Lou of Bedford, MA, a son Allan Goodwin and his wife Inchu of Tucson, AZ, a daughter Mary Braese and her husband Keith of Sanford, a daughter Lynn Westcott and her husband Jeff of Standish, a son Gary Goodwin and his wife Sherri of Springvale, a son Matthew Goodwin and his wife Tabitha of Rapid City, SD, eleven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.At the family's request, there will be no services.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Springvale Public Library, 433 Main St. Springvale, ME 04083 To leave a message of condolence please click condolences tab at left.
