Marcelle Dick, 79, of Cape Canaveral, FL, died Saturday, January 29, 2005 at the home of her daughter, following a long illness. She was born April 10, 1925 in Sweetwater, TX, a daughter of Marshall and Edna (Johnson) Porter.Mrs. Dick had lived in Cape Canaveral for the past 15 years and formerly lived in Cambridge, MA . She was also a summer resident of West Newfield, ME for the past 30 years.Marcie worked for many years at Standard Process Labs in Watertown, MA. She retired to Florida where she was chaplain of the VFW Women's Aux. of Cape Canaveral.She was active in fund raising activities in the Newfield area and belonged to the lunch bunch group.Mrs. Dick was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, John B. Dick, in 2000.She is survived by 2 sons, Stephen and his wife Veronica Dick of Menands, NY; David and his wife Deborah Dick of Quincy, MA; a daughter, Elizabeth and her husband Dale Richards of Glen, NH; a sister, Mildred Solano of Buzzards Bay, MA; sisters-in-law Mary Holmes of Cambridge, MA, and Louise Corbett of Harwichport, MA; 8 grandchildren and several beloved nieces and nephews. Her granddaughter, Lindsay Richards was her constant companion throughout her illness.A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at the Maryland Ridge Memorial United Methodist Church, Route 11, West Newfield, ME. Pastor Phyllis MacDonald will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Jeff Swayze, rector of St. Margaret's Anglican Church, Conway, NH. Friends are invited to visit at the church one hour prior to the service and for refreshments and fellowship following the funeral.
