Marc A. Widershien
Marc Alan Widershien.of Springvale , ME, a Boston, MA. native, died at his home on August 2nd, 2016 at age 72. Widershien was a well known writer and translator as well as a fine abstract/ symbolist painter and semi - professional violinist who performed for a period as a member of the Boston Civic Symphony.He received his early mentoring in poetics from such famous writers as Ezra Pound, Daisy Aldan and Samuel French Morse, later garnering multiple degrees leading to a Doctorate in Comparative Literature from Boston University. In his professional career, Widershien held various academic posts around New England ; became an archivist for the State of Massachusetts; and owned 2 bookstore. Later, he received high praise in the press for his magnum opus. The Life of All Worlds, a prose work vividly describing his growing up years in Dorchester, MA., a work which led to many appearances on syndicated TV and radio shows. Widershien's latest venture included developing his own press, Poplar Editions ,through which he published 2 lyrical books of poetry- Maine, A Journeymans Book and Springvale . His awards included a Pushcart Prize in Poetry and commendations from the Anthology of New England Writers. Widershien leaves behind his two brothers, Joel Wilder and Jerome Barry; two sons, Erik Widershien and Adam Paladino; a daughter, Marcy Widershien and multiple nieces and nephews.
