Manuel D. Santos, Sr., 81, of Sanford, Maine, passed away at the home of his son in Albany Township, Maine on Saturday September 16, 2006. He was born in Peabody, MA, on May 28, 1925, a son of Frank and Mary (Prazeres) Santos.A longtime resident of Peabody and Danvers, MA, he owned and operated M. Santos Trucking for many years before moving to Waterboro, ME in 1981. There he owned and operated Santos Rubbish Removal and managed the Lyman Town Dump as a caretaker. Later he worked as a driver for Community Support Services in Biddeford, Maine.He retired in 1996 due to illness. Manny was known by many. His favorite pastime was chatting with people at the local coffee shops. He also enjoyed raising pigs and many other animals.He is predeceased by one brother, Joseph Santos, three children, Mary Jean Stanley, Kathleen Horrigan and Deborah Stanley.He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia (Williams) Santos of Sanford, his children, Christine M. Perry and her companion, Kathy of Danvers, MA, Thomas J. Santos and his wife, Tina of Albany Township, Maine, Manuel D. Santos, Jr., and his wife, Bobbie Jo of Sanford, Maine, Michael M. Santos and his wife, Sue of Salem, MA, Barbara Sue Osterstuck of Beverly, MA, Ronald Santos of Gloucester, MA, James Santos of Malden, MA, Robin Carlson of Peabody, MA, siblings, Olga Santos of Beverly, MA, and Evelyn Paul of Saugus, MA, as well as many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.A graveside service will be held on Wednesday September 20 at 1pm at the Highland Cemetery Annex in Limerick, Maine.Arrangements are under the direction of the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford, Maine.In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association of Maine 122 State Street, Augusta, Maine 04330.Condolences may be expressed by using the "condolence" tab to the left.
There have been many sunrises and sunsets since I saw you when I was a child showing me the farm you had in Maine . I will always remember you Boo Boo miss you much rest in peace
